Al PLank 1 of 4

Al Plank was one of the best. While at Indiana University in the early 50s he played in the Stardust Cafe - named after Hoagy's great tune. I followed him as pianist in that venue and always thought I got some reflected good vibes from having played on the bench where he had played. It is a great shame he did not record more and one thing we could ask for is whether his friends in California having any tapes or materials of his playing, maybe they could put together a CD of his playing. If it should materialize I hope I hear about it over here in France where I am thinking of Al. He was a sensitive, wonderful accompanianist - a real tunesmith he knew them all.
