Graillier Bob Scott writes:
"Could I draw your attention to the death of Belgian-born jazz pianist Michel Graillier (with Chet Baker for much of the 80s) in Paris Feb 18."
Michel Graillier began his jazz career with violinist Jean Luc Ponty in 1968. He accompanied many visiting American artists in a trio with Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark and Aldo Romano, and was a member of various groups in France, including Magma.
He worked regularly with Chet Baker until 1988, and also worked with Pharoah Sanders and Barney Wilen. In the 1990s he worked in both trio and quintet settings with drummer Simon Goubert.
JJA members are invited to submit a full obituary or appreciation.
