Saxophonist and Bandleader Harry HayesCopyright © 2002
Harry Hayes was a familiar figure on the British jazz scene from its earliest days until his retirement from performing in 1965, and a highly regarded saxophone teacher. He played in many well known British jazz and dance bands before forming his own group in 1944. He set up his own music shop in 1947, and concentrated on running that side of his business after retiring from performing.
