Haines Stuart Broomer, the editor of Coda, sends the following note:
It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of Paul Haines, who died at home in Ennismore, Ontario on Tuesday, January 21.
Whether as poet, music writer or filmmaker, Paul possessed the rarest qualitygenuine originality. His vision, wit and expansive generosity will be missed by all who knew him and his work. A memorial celebration of Pauls life is being planned to take place in Toronto.
Kenny Mathieson adds:
Paul Haines was probably best know in jazz circles for his collaboration with Carla Bley on Escalator over The Hill (1971).
JJA members are invited to submit a full obituary or appreciation.
