Membership Application

Jazz Journalist (professional/voting member) — $75.00

Professional jazz journalists — writers, photographers, broadcasters, film makers, videographers, radio and web producers and others who cover jazz in a professional capacity — are eligible to become JJA members with full nominating and voting privileges. Professionals receive a full listing in the JJA's public directory and receive discounts to JJA events and educational programs and all other benefits of membership. They are expected to contribute to JJA publications and online platforms, serve on panels and in enrichment programs, and may apply for office or run for board positions in the JJA.

Student/Apprentice (non-voting) — $25

Full-time students with an interest in jazz journalism are eligible to become Student/Apprentice Members; they receive some other benefits of membership, including free or discounted admission to JJA events and educational programs, as well as, if requested, mentoring by veteran JJA members. They may contribute to JJA publications and online platforms. They do not make nominations or vote and receive an abbreviated listing in the JJA's public membership directory.

Industry Associate (Individual — nonvoting) — $90

Industry Associates represent the music and publishing industries and allied fields. They further the work of the JJA by supporting its educational efforts and events like the annual Jazz Awards. Industry Associates can be listed in the JJA's public member directory and receive discounted admission to JJA events and educational programs. This level is appropriate for sole proprietors (publicists, musicians) and people in the industry who want to support us as individuals rather than as company representatives. We encourage larger companies and organizations to join at the Industry Supporter level.

Industry Supporter (Corporate: 1 or 2 individuals — nonvoting) — $300

Industry Supporters are companies and organizations in the music, media and publishing industries and allied fields. They further the work of the JJA by supporting its educational efforts and events like the annual Jazz Awards. The company or organization receives recognition as a JJA Supporter in JJA publications; it may designate one or two individuals as JJA Industry Associates; the Associates will be listed in the JJA's public member directory and receive discounted admission to JJA events and educational programs.

Industry Supporter (Corporate: up to 4 individuals — nonvoting) — $500

Industry Supporters are companies and organizations in the music, media and publishing industries and allied fields. They further the work of the JJA by supporting its educational efforts and events like the annual Jazz Awards. The company or organization receives recognition as a JJA Supporter in JJA publications and online platforms; it may designate up to four individuals as JJA Industry Associates. The Associates will be listed in the JJA's public member directory and receive discounted admission to JJA events and educational programs. Please write President@JazzJournalists.org if your company or organization would like to support the JJA at a higher level (sponsorships are available) or would like to designate more than four Industry Associates.
