The New York chapter of the Jazz Journalists Association hosts a holiday
cocktail party for music journalists and musicians, with photographer Lourdes
Delgado talking about and showing some of "Jazz in New York: a Community of
Visions" her acclaimed, ongoing portrait series of musicians, on Wednesday, Dec. 22
at the New School Jazz Performance space, from 6 to 8 p.m., as the next Jazz
Matters meeting.
Lourdes Delgado, a Spanish-born photojournalist whose work has been in Down
Beat, among other publications, has begun a far-reaching photo study of New
York's jazz players and doers, in which the sitter becomes an active participant
in the final image. So far she photographed more than 200 artists plus a few
producers, presenters and critics on their own terms, in a high resolution,
black and white still format (Dan Ouellette is conducting interviews with the
subjects, too). The portrait people are invited to the party --along with all
music journalists capable of socializing with musicians.
Refreshments will be served.
The JJA is encouraging all it's chapters to hold holiday parties, and all its
members and friends to gear up for great holidays.
