Hi people, best wishes from the JJA, New York central, for the greatest of 
all possible new years. That's not asking too much, is it?

Please take less than 5 minutes to fill out the members' survey, by Jan 3, so 
the board can look at results Jan 5 at IAJE.

Volunteer help wanted, still, for Jazzhouse.org: 
    Co-writer for the Last Post, research and account for great jazz lives;
    Bookstore coordinator/curator: collect and post ISBN info on new volumes 
by JJA members at Jazzhouse's linked-sales list; post excerpts, reviews;
    Jazz Matters curator, New York: co-produce 3 JJA public events at New 
School Jazz performance space, Feb. through April.  

Committees being formed: Membership, mentoring-education, Jazz Awards, 
Critics Conference, By-laws, Jazz Matters

Next Annual meeting: Saturday, Jan 8, 2005, 2 pm, International Association 
for Jazz Education Conference, Long Beach, California. 

During the IAJE conference the JJA will also hold its third annual "Who Asked 
You Anyway" seminars for ambitious writers (this year with an expert on 
writing for broadcast, too), three consecutive morning sessions conducted by Paul 
deBarros and Dan Ouellette, with a JJA jury convening to discuss results; a "do 
it yourself" panel on independent jazz journalism startups with members Neil 
Tesser (Miles Ahead radio, broadcasting live from the conference site), Jon 
Poses (JazznBaseball, Fred Jung (AllAboutJazz LA) and Paula Edelstein of Sounds 
of Timeless Jazz.com; we'll throw a cocktail party, too.
