the jazz-hiphop & rap-black rock mash-up -- is there continuity among  
these genres that we all ought to know about for improved  
understanding of American culture, or a disconnect that keeps their  
creators and audiences (and critics) at arm's legnth from each other?  
These and other topics will arise when pianist Robert Glasper (cover  
subject of Down Beat's May issue), journalist-musician Greg "Ironman"  
Tate, and Revive Da Live producer Meghan Stabile join moderator  
Howard Mandel for the next Jazz Journalists Association-produced  
"Jazz Matters" panel on Wednesday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the  
New School Jazz and Contemporary Music performance space, fifth  
floor, 55 W. 13th St., NYC.
