Dear JJA colleagues --
Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola is hosting a luxious Sunday brunch for the
Jazz Journalists Association members and guests participating at
"Jazz and the Global Imagination," the excellent six-panel conference
on jazz journalism produced by the Center for Jazz Studies at
Columbia University yesterday (Sat., 29), with JJA consultation.
SO YES, Sunday, Sept. 30 -- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., -- please attend! We
have some extra places available -- come if you can and enjoy a visit
with colleagues from the UK and EU, Japan, Russia, Mexico, Canada,
San Diego and other far flung spots. RSVP if you can, please to enjoy
a tantalizing repast, music by pianist Elio VIllafranca's quartet,
J at LC generosity and good talk, guaranteed.
Of course, some of us are jazz-walking Harlem with tour guide Paul
Blair, meeting at 9 a.m. at 741 St. Nicholas Ave, NW corner of 147th
St. (A, B, C, or D subways to 145th St. Station). Y'all welcome to
come to that part of the party, too -- please do.
for notes by David Adler and Jeremy Pfau on the panels --
interactive, so post your comments -- go to www.Jazzhouse.org.
more soon, Howard
