[jja-announce] Jazz Notes: Call for Photos

Dear colleagues:

JJA members are invited to submit previously unpublished photos for  
the Spring 2009 issue of Jazz Notes, the JJA's membership journal.  
Please send photos to art director Forrest Bryant (fo at fojazz.com) by  
Sunday, February 1.

Photographs should be related to the jazz scene, but do not have to be  
stage shots. We are looking particularly for photos that tell a story  
or convey emotion. Unusual angles and fresh approaches are encouraged.  
Grainy, out-of-focus or low-resolution shots are unlikely to be used,  
and "grip and grin" handshake photos are discouraged.

SPECIFICATIONS:

If at all possible, please send high-resolution shots -- 300 dpi or  
1500px on the longest edge (equivalent to 2 megapixels) is good.  
Larger is better. JPG or TIF preferred. Color or grayscale/b&w are  
accepted.

Please include the following information for captions:

* Your name, as you wish to be credited
* The names of all persons in the image, if known
* The date and location where the photograph was taken

Please do not overlay credit or copyright lines on the image; you will  
be credited in the caption.

Your submission of any image for publication in Jazz Notes constitutes  
your representation that that image is solely your original work, was  
obtained lawfully, and that the publication of that image in Jazz  
Notes, on www.jazzhouse.org, or in any other publication of the Jazz  
Journalists Association, Inc. will not violate the copyright interest,  
any right of privacy or publicity, or to your knowledge, any other  
legal right or interest of any person or entity.
