Dear JJA members (especially those in the New York City area) --
The JJA has accepted rare opportunity to mentor young writers
preparing themselves for college, in collaboration with Urban
Assembly, a network of 22 NYC public schools at which Yvonne Ervin,
vice president of the JJA, is Development Director. JJA members in the
NYC area are invited to contact YE at yervin at urbanassembly.org for
details on this program, which requires a commitment of two afternoons
a month from October through June for 90 minute sessions, a two-hour
training session and email contact with the mentees. The mentees will
come from theme based schools like Performing Arts, Music and Arts,
Arts and Letters, etc. There is a screening process for the mentors
(background check, etc,) and a commitment of one, preferably two
years, and no financial stipend.
Please respond to Yervin at urbanassembly.org -- and soon, to help us
close in on details.
thanks,
Howard Mandel
