Hey all full-professional JJA members -- please vote in the Jazz  
Awards this weekend, if you haven't already.

The ballot for 42 categories of achievement in music and journalism is  
up at Jazzhouse.org, and the ballot for the five finalists for Photo  
of the Year is up at http://www.jazzjournalists.org/2009-jja-jazz-awards-finalists-ballot 
   -- and both voting booths will close at a new date and time --  
Monday, May 25, at noon. That ought to give everyone a chance to vote.

You can also reserve tickets for the Jazz Awards announcement party on  
Tues., June 16 at JazzJournalists.org -- 2 tickets are available to  
JJA members for the event, which runs from 3 to 6 p.m., at the price  
of $60 apiece, which includes a lavish Jazz Standard barbeque buffet,  
beverages including Brother Thelonious Belgian Ale, performances by  
the Charles Tolliver Big Band, Jane Bunnett's spirits of Havana,  
pianist Marian Petrescu (whose new big band album celebrating the  
legacy of Oscar Peterson has just been released) and guitarist Andres  
Oberg, plus some special surprise guests. Seating is limited so please  
make reservations soon. I hope to see a lot of JJA members at the  
Awards -- Doug Ramsey, last year's winner of Lifetime Achievement in  
Jazz Journalism Award is coming all the way from Yakima, Washington,  
to present this year's Lifetime Achievement honor to -- who?
