The Sedgewick Cultural Center in Philadelphia is hosting a very
unique jazz concert next March 27th and is looking for jazz writers
interested in writing about the project. It's a concert envisioned by
saxophonist/ composer Jane Ira Bloom entitled "Unexpected Light" - a
special evening of improvised sound & light featuring a unique
collaboration between her jazz quartet (w/ Marc Copland -piano, Mark
Dresser - bass, Bobby Previte - drums) and world renowned lighting
designer James Ingalls.
To our knowledge, nothing like this has ever been tried before - in a
sense, improvised lighting as the fifth member of the jazz quartet.
