The celebrated and Grammy-nominated vocalist Carla Cook is coming to Co-op

Hart, bassist Adrian D¹Aguilar, and drummer George Gray.
The concert will take place in Lerner Auditorium, 177 Dreiser Loop, Co-op
City, Bronx, NY, on Sunday, June 26th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is
free thanks to the generosity of the Bronx Council on the Arts and the

About Carla Cook:
> She phrases as naturally as the sun sets ...
> Chicago Reader
> What makes her special is the way she meshes musical sensibilities with the
> easy forcefulness of her personality.
> Chicago Sun-Times
> . . . a potent mixture of emotion and energy.
> Washington Post
> Situating her gospel-tinted voice in a propulsive rhythmic groove, she
> proceeds to bend the blues, rehabilitate some standards and scamper through a
> couple of her own intriguing compositions...
> Cook can cook.
> TIME Magazine
> At last, a jazz singer who truly re-covers the standard waterfronts with fresh
> coats of paint. A real presence. A mad-loose straight ahead jazz diva with a
> gospel soul, big band heart, classical cool and improvisational hot. And what
> a beautiful voice - warm amber-hued contralto.
> The fact that singers as gifted as Carla Cook aren't deluged with gold records
> is downright criminal. ... One just has to marvel and enjoy, feeling certain
> that whenever Cook steps up to the mike, Ella et al. are smiling down on her
> from above snapping their fingers and beaming.
