        About Carla Cook:

> She phrases as naturally as the sun sets ...

> What makes her special is the way she meshes musical sensibilities with the
> easy forcefulness of her personality.
> Chicago Sun-Times
>
> . . . a potent mixture of emotion and energy.
> Washington Post
>
> Situating her gospel-tinted voice in a propulsive rhythmic groove, she
> proceeds to bend the blues, rehabilitate some standards and scamper through a
> couple of her own intriguing compositions...
> Cook can cook.
> TIME Magazine
>
> At last, a jazz singer who truly re-covers the standard waterfronts with fresh
> coats of paint. A real presence. A mad-loose straight ahead jazz diva with a
> gospel soul, big band heart, classical cool and improvisational hot. And what
> a beautiful voice - warm amber-hued contralto.

> The fact that singers as gifted as Carla Cook aren't deluged with gold records
