Pittsfield CityJazz  Festival Announces 2007 Dates, Oct. 4-7 
PITTSFIELD,  Mass., May 8, 2007 – The Pittsfield CityJazz Festival  
(_www.PittsfieldCityJazz.org_ (http://www.pittsfieldcityjazz.org/) ) has announced the 
dates and general format for  the third annual event. Scheduled for Oct. 4-7, 
2007, the festival has grown to four full  evenings of concerts, plus 
educational and other events to be  announced. 
The lineup is expected to be announced around Memorial Day. Festival  founder 
and chairman Edward Bride said that this year’s lineup will again  include a 
mix of internationally-known leaders and soloists, up-and-coming  performers, 
and new works created specially for the event. Highlights of the  Columbus Day 
weekend event include a concert featuring women in Jazz; a Latin  Jazz night, 
and two special commissions by different Jazz composers, one that  will 
feature a collegiate big band and the other featuring a youth  orchestra. 
“The Pittsfield CityJazz Festival is a signature cultural  event for the 
region during our very popular fall foliage season in the  Berkshires,” noted 
Megan Whilden, Director of Cultural Development for the City  of Pittsfield. “The 
Festival gives  both residents and visitors to the Berkshires the opportunity 
to enjoy nature’s  glory during the day, and  America’s  greatest cultural 
gift to the world during the evening  “ 
Once again, dozens of local venues will be presenting live jazz during  
dinner hours and after hours, at no cover charge. And for the second straight  
year, regional professional jazz musicians will be bringing live performances  
into all the schools of Pittsfield,  which is the county seat of Berkshrie  
County, in western  Massachusetts.
