Some runner-ups that didn’t quite make it to the lists,which are in no particular order: Nels Cline Singers, The Giant Pin, Marc Copland/Greg Osby, Night Call, Jamie Baum Septet, Moving Forward, Standing Still, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Morton’s Foot, Bill Bruford’s Earthworks, Random Acts of Happiness, Bill Frisell, Unspeakable, Tomasz Stanko, Suspended Night and ECM’s entire new batch of twelve :rarum — Selected Recordings, highlighting works from Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Egberto Gismonti, Jack DeJohnette, John Surman, John Abercrombie, Carla Bley, Paul Motian, Tomasz Stanko, Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen.
