2008 JJA Jazz Awards

Announcing: The Jazz Journalists Association's 12th annual Jazz Awards
Recognizing excellence in 41 categories of music-making, presentation, production and jazz journalism
Party on Wednesday, June 18, 3 to 6 p.m., Jazz Standard, 116 E. 27th St., New York City

The Jazz Journalists Association — some 450 writers, photographers, broadcasters and new media entrepreneurs mostly in the US and Canada but also worldwide and on the Internet — believes professional, independent jazz journalism is the most important means of promoting jazz of every genre on record or in performance to general audiences via print, broadcast, the web and public discussions. To advance this belief, the JJA celebrates winners of the 2008 Jazz Awards at a cocktail luncheon at the Jazz Standard, 116 27th St. in New York City, on Wednesday, June 18 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Finalist nominees for the JJA's12th annual Awards recognizing excellence in 41 categories of jazz music and jazz journalism are selected by professional (as opposed to student or support) members of the JJA, who may submit up to five nominations in each category. Those nominees accumulating the most votes are finalists — voted upon again by the JJA's professional members to determine individual representative recipients — Winners!
