Top 10 + 2, 2006

This list encompasses a dozen of my favorite new releases of the year, hewing to albums in my hands between November 1 2005 and November 1, 2006. There are easily two dozen more cds I like just about as well, including excellent albums I worked on by artists including but not limited to Rez Abassi, Chris Jentsch, Rob Reddy, Hans Tammen’s improv quartet, Ingrid Jensen, Michael Wolff, Greg Osby with Andrew Cyrille, Cyrille with Reggie Workman and John Tchicai, Jimmy Cobb with Cedar Walton, Javon Jackson and Christian McBride. The historical list ignores single best-of compilations, though there are some good recent ones.
